WITH JASON “MAYHEM” MILLER POSSIBLY SUSPENDED, ROBBIE LAWLER VS. RENATO “BABALU” SOBRAL ON JUNE 16

A proposed middleweight fight between Jason “Mayhem” Miller and Robbie Lawler on June 16 in Los Angeles, California has hit a speed bump. Expected to be the main event for the upcoming Strikeforce card, Miller has been replaced by Renato “Babalu” Sobral. The bout will now take place at a catchweight of 195 pounds.

Strikeforce President, Scott Coker, said the change had to be made after he was notified that a hearing will take place by the Tennessee Athletic Commission in mid-May. The purpose of the hearing is to determine which fighters, if any, will be handed suspensions or fines for their participation in the post fight brawl at the end of the Jake Shields vs. Dan Henderson bout earlier this month.

Coker said that Miller is expected to receive a lengthy suspension. No word on who else may have to sit on the bench. While Coker doesn’t plan on enforcing his own penalties, he said that he will uphold any punishments the athletic commission doles out.

The Lawler vs. Sobral fight card will be broadcast on Showtime.
